Tensions Rise in Europe After Migrant Crisis in Ceuta

A major migration crisis has broken out in Ceuta, a small Spanish territory located on the coast of North Africa. Over the past few days, approximately 60,000 migrants crossed the border from Morocco, creating a difficult situation for local authorities. He noted that Ceuta is not actually part of the Schengen area, meaning that migrants who reach the territory do not have an automatic right to travel into the rest of Europe. International leaders have also weighed in on the crisis. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz demanded that Morocco take back the migrants immediately. Meanwhile, the UK Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, stated that he had spoken with Sánchez and offered support. Juan Jesús Vivas, the president of Ceuta, told reporters that while many migrants have returned to Morocco, thousands still remain in the city. He described an atmosphere of "unease and concern" and called for security measures to remain in place to protect the local population.
