Gencore Global presents itself as a legitimate health and wellness business in the UK, selling products like skincare and supplements. However, the report found that several people linked to the brand are actively promoting illegal drugs to their followers.

Anabolic steroids are man-made versions of the male hormone testosterone. They are often used to help build muscle and improve recovery after exercise. While it is legal to own these drugs for personal use in the UK, it is against the law to sell or supply them without a special license. The Telegram network, which has operated under names like Rohm and Anabolic By Nature, offers a variety of products. One person acting as an administrator in the group even joked about the illegal nature of their business, saying it was unrealistic to expect an underground shop to be open all the time. Experts are concerned that the line between healthy fitness culture and the promotion of dangerous substances is becoming harder to see.

Using these drugs without medical supervision carries significant health risks. Doctors warn that users may face problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, liver damage, and mood changes like aggression. Jamie Mantzouridis, a 29-year-old former bodybuilder, shared his own experience with the dangers of these substances. He started using steroids in his early 20s because he felt pressure to look like the larger men he saw at the gym. He explained that while steroids can help someone get results quickly, they are not a "cheat code" and come with serious consequences.

During his time using these drugs, Mantzouridis suffered from severe acne and an infection that required a stay in the hospital. He also experimented with insulin, a drug typically used by people with diabetes, which can be life-threatening if used incorrectly by a healthy person. He eventually decided to stop after a frightening experience where he felt dizzy and close to collapsing. Today, Mantzouridis works as a nutritionist and personal trainer. He believes that social media creates unrealistic expectations for men, making them feel that they must look a certain way to be successful.

The pressure to achieve a perfect body can lead individuals to seek shortcuts, often through dangerous and illegal channels.
