These concerns are linked to earlier changes at CBS News. After David Ellison’s Skydance Corporation bought Paramount last year, he appointed Bari Weiss to lead CBS News. Weiss is a former writer for The New York Times who started her own media outlet. Since her appointment, some have accused the network of showing bias toward the Trump administration. In response to these worries, CNN’s CEO, Mark Thompson, announced he would stay in his role. He stated that he has spoken with Skydance leadership and feels confident that they will support the practice of independent news.
