Europe Faces New Heat Wave as Rhine River Water Levels Drop

Millions of people across Europe are preparing for another extreme heat wave this week. To manage these risks, the Spanish government is deploying over 33,000 law enforcement personnel to keep the public safe. Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska explained that the extreme heat and the dryness of the land require strong preventive measures. Officials are urging visitors to avoid lighting fires, to stop littering, and to be careful where they park their vehicles to prevent accidental blazes. The situation is similar in other countries, as the heat wave is expected to spread across the Balkans and even reach the United Kingdom, where the Met Office has warned that this year could be the hottest summer on record.
